Rappin’ With Right Cross: Interview With S’Kati Katz

S’Kati Katz is a new professional female boxer that’s making a name for herself and she has made her way to Austin, Texas and now is being trained by Ann Wolfe.

RCE – You are new on the boxing scene, how do you like fighting professionally?
SK – I love it.  something about getting in the ring and fighting is so relaxing yet exhilerating.

RCE – How did you get into boxing?
SK – I started about 2 1/2 years ago just for fitness.  Wanted to try something new for my workout and fell in love with it.  Its the hardest thing I have ever done and it all comes down to me being able to stand toe to toe with people in the ring and fight for my life.  Its great.

RCE – Did you have a amateur career?
SK- No… went straight pro

RCE – You moved out to Santa Monica to pursue your boxing career and you stayed there only briefly.
SK – I did what i needed to do out there.  Met lots of people in the boxing world, great trainers, fighters, and business people.  I love Texas…  its home.  Los Angeles wasnt reality for me. Was an amazing experience, but Texas is my home.

RCE – Why didn’t it work out in L.A.?
SK – It did work. I wasn’t planning on being out there long term, just needed some new experience and it was great!!!!!

RCE – You are fighting in the middleweight division, and you are 4-0, with 2 KO’s. What kind of fighter do you consider yourself to be?
SK – I am calm.  I watch my opponent and then attack.  I can be the aggressor when needed but staying calm is key. I train with Ann Wolfe in Austin, TX and she is the best.  My idol in this sport and I am fortunate enough to train with her and she is teaching me to be the best.RCE – You fought in Germany twice and in your last fight you fought on the undercard of Vitali Klitschko, how exciting was that?
SK – Super exciting.  In July I fought on the undercard of Wladimir and then October with Vitali.  The crowds were about 10,000 and then 17,000.  I can’t even describe what I was going through.I definitely thank God everyday because I feel like the luckiest girl in the world.

RCE – Have you noticed how big female boxing is in Germany opposed to here in the States?
SK – Yes… The response I got was awesome.  Nothing like the US.  My mother is from Germany and i speak German so they really had a liking for me. I absolutely loved it and hope to go back.

RCE – What do you want to get out of boxing?
SK – I hope to fight for a title within a year and be the next supermiddleweight world champ

RCE – When is your next fight planned?
SK – Next Thursday, February 5th in Austin, TX

RCE - Thank you for your time, we look forward to seeing you fight, is there anything else that you would like for people to know
about S’Kati “Killer” Katz?

SK - I just want to thank everyone for supporting me and keep your eyes open for me this year.  I want everyone to know that if you put your heart and soul into something, you can achieve anything.
